How far can I go with an exhaust setup and still pass smog in Cali?

Hey guys. I have a 02' Z28 and I would like to put long tubes with true duals on, with cats of course. If possible, some time down the line put a cam and heads. I'd like to know if anyone has a similar setup or how far I can go before I become exempt. Also, if I go custom, obviously the exhaust has to come all the way out the back, I'd like to have it custom fab'd to have the best ground clearance possible, so where is a good shop? So far I have only heard of Cunningham in Lake Elsinore. Thanks and cheers.

You won't pass smog with long tube headers(visual) , and I passed smog in Sept.2009 with a magnaflow bullet muffler right after the Random Technologys Catted Y-pipe and dumped with a turn-down before the axle tubes.
If you have an A4 trans you'll also want a higher stall speed TC that'll work good with whatever cam you choose.
